EDOC@3.0 - 2014-2015
"Education and Work On Cloud" is a project supported by PON MIUR "Smart Cities and Communities and social Innovation". The mission is to innovate every period of learning, from elementary school to vocational education, using innovative technologies to support educational and pedagogical models.

Tales – Stories for learning in European schools - 2013-2015
TALES’s mission is to investigate the impact of oral and digital storytelling in formal education and to create a set of cognitive tools to empower teachers to introduce storytelling into their practice effectively. The main aim of the project is to develop new teaching methods and materials involving storytelling and include them as innovative approach and new content in initial and in-service teacher training courses. It’s a Comenius Multilateral project funded with support from the European Commission.

Voices, Words and Texts from the Campania Region - 2012-2015
Voci, Parole e Testi della Campania (Voices, Words and Texts from the Campania Region); POR CAMPANIA FESR 2007-2013. Valorization through (1) multimedia digital stories, (2) interactive applications and (3) an archiving SW for three archives of the Campania region. Amount granted: 70,000 euros. Duration: 12/09/2012-12/09/2015 (36 Months).

L4ALL (Learning for all) - 2009-2012
A FIRB project about the impact of communication technologies on education, with a special emphasis on inclusion. HOC is scientific coordinator.

PoliCollege - 2006-2012
A set of advanced on-line courses aimed at talented students, who want to improve their background on subjects taught at school (like mathematics, physics) or learn about new subjects (like architecture, design…), usually taught at university.

HiTec - spring 2005-2013
A selected group of very talented students from the last 2 years of the high schools, after following on-line courses, are invited to experiment university life for a week (at the end of the school term).

Man Ray - 2010
An exhibition on of the most influential artists of the twentieth century.

Nippon, 4 exhibitions about Japanese culture - November 2010
In cooperation with the Polo Culturale of Lugano. A set of multimedia, multichannel, multi-format “narratives” to support the visitor’s experience.

A day in Roman Milan - May 2010
In cooperation with the Archaeological Museum of Milan. A multimedia, multichannel narrative presenting the life of 5 “characters” in ancient Roman Milan.

Look at me - June 2009
In cooperation with Museo Cantonale d’Arte and Museo d’Arte of Lugano (Switzerland). A multimedia multichannel application aimed at introducing the exhibition’s main cultural themes to the visitors.

Communicating the quality of organic products, from the web to iPhone - 2008-2009
Comunicare la qualità dei prodotti biologici: dal web all’iPhone (Communicating the quality of organic products, from the web to iPhone). Agreement between “Consiglio per la Ricerca e la sperimentazione in Agricoltura – Centro di ricerca per la Produzione delle Carni ed il Miglioramento genetico (CRA-PCM)” and the Dept. of Electronics and Information of Politenico di Milano, protocol n. 200801544. Amount granted: 34,000 euros. Duration: 06/19/2008-06/19/2009 (12 months).

Learning@SocialSport - 2007-2009
In cooperation with the fashion group Benetton, the Italian Foundation of Accenture, CONI and SKY. An educational experience based on 3D cooperative environments, about the ethical, social and psychological issues related to sport, aimed at young Italian athletes.

Enigma Helvetia Tales - June 2008
In cooperation with Museo Cantonale d’Arte and Museo d’Arte of Lugano (Switzerland). A multimedia multichannel application aimed at introducing the exhibition’s main cultural themes to the visitors. An extensive survey (more than 200 respondents) was also conducted to investigate the impact.

Learning@Europe - 2004-2008
With the support of Accenture Foundations. A 3D collaborative world to promote the knowledge of European history and identity among youngsters. More than 6,600 students from 18 countries (plus USA) were involved.

EPOCH Network of Excellence - 2004-2008
EPOCH is a network of about a hundred European cultural institutions joining their efforts to improve the quality and effectiveness of the use of Information and Communication Technology for Cultural Heritage.
Participants include university departments, research centres, heritage institutions.

PoliResearch - 2005-2008
Periodical (annual) meetings where international academic experts in education and new technologies discuss with Italian educational authorities about crucial issues in the evolution of education systems.

Hermann Hesse: Seekers of Truth - June 2007
In cooperation with Hermann Hesse Museum of Montagnola, Lugano (Switzerland). A multimedia multichannel application inspired by the story of the “vegetabilist” community Monte Verità in Ascona, where Hermann Hesse spent 2 weeks in the spring of 1907.

VICE: Virtual Communities for Education - 2005-2007
VICE aims at creating an innovative platform for the development and fruition of high-quality e-learning applications. The targets are small and medium enterprises that cannot afford doing without key people for long periods of time: in these situations, distance learning, supported by ICT, is the best solution.

GENESIS D - 2004-2007
The project’s goal is the definition of an applicative framework for the creation of interactive web systems, for the management of information on the environment and sustainable development.

LEAPFROG - 2004-2007
Leapfrog CA (Coordination of multidisciplinary knowledge and Research Activities to support Leadership for European Apparel Production From Research along Original Guidelines) aims at the establishment of a "knowledge community" on intelligent apparel manufacturing technologies.

DISCORSO (Distributed Information Systems for Coordinated Service Oriented Interoperability) - 2005-07
DISCORSO aims at supporting and enhancing the technological innovation for companies and the birth of new enterprises. The first 2 fields of applications are: agro-industrial sector and textile sectors.

AURal Access - 2004-2006
The AURA (AURal Access) project aims at defining a methodological and technological framework that enables the design and development of web-based “aural” applications, in which the audio channel becomes the main or the only communication channel.
Funded by Regione Campania (Italy).

MEDINA - 2002-2006
MEDINA (MEDiterranean by INternet Access) purpose is to promote the culture of the partner countries in the Mediterranean basin, emphasising their common cultural background. It is formed by a Consortium of seventeen partners (national and regional tourism offices, ministries of culture and tourism, universities and private corporations) from fourteen countries in the Mediterranean area.

EASYLOG - 2004-2006
The EASyLOG (e-Adaptive Services for Logistics) project aims at creating an adaptive prototype platform for on-line services supporting logistics companies (carriers in particular). The main focus is on the traceability of dangerous goods, for immediate intervention.

MAPS - 2005-2006
The MAPS (Marketing Activities for the Promotion of Syrian Cultural Heritage, Directorate of Museum and Antiquities - Syrian Arab Republic) project aimed at promoting the cultural tourism in Syria. HOC-Lab collaborated in the re-design of the Ministry of Tourism website, developing also new interactive sections.

D.E.A. - 2005-2006
The project focuses on the cataloguing and analysis of best practices in e-learning targeting disabled people. In particular, the project concentrates on digital literacy and on how to teach people with disabilities to use the new ICT technology.

CHIPS, Child Ict Pages - 2005-2006
European Commission: 6th Framework Program. The goal of the Ch.I.Ps.(Child Ict Pages) project is to enable the access of children, their families and teachers, to Information Society by promoting their “digital literacy”. Ch.I.Ps. is a catalogue of the existing good practices on digital literacy, for the above-mentioned target, accessible and usable according to the different criteria and keys so as to allow an efficient and focused 'surfing' by children, their parents and trainers The project intends to be a “good practice”, a standard transferable to other training experiences.

TIGER, Telepresence Instant Groupware for higher Education in Robotics - 2004-2006
MUR (Italian Ministry for University and Research). TIGER is a basic research proposal aimed at representing and communicating the knowledge which can be learned attending a laboratory of advanced or traditional Robotics. It addresses both students and adults to be trained as control designers for robotic systems, allowing them to operate in the lab from a remote site using telelaboratory tools in telepresence. This implies the definition of suitable educational model and of a suitable Electronic Learning Environment supporting the active and co-operative learning by students.

WeD - 2003-2005
In cooperation with TEC-LAB, Università della Svizzera Italiana.
The goal of WED (Web as Dialogue) is to develop a framework for interpreting the user interaction with a website as a dialogue. Innovative web design models based on dialogic primitives were developed that enabled to improve existing techniques for web accessibility (especially for visually-impaired users).

FaTe - 2003-2005
FaTe – Favole e Tecnologia (Tales and Technology) comprises an on-line course for teachers and three CD-ROMs for pupils, aged between 4 and 8 y. The tales are the starting point to delve into simple themes like colour, space and time cognition, multi-ethnicity. FaTe was followed by nearly 340 Italian schools. FaTe was funded by Como Province (Italy) and end-users

SEE (Shrine Educational Experience) - 2003-2005
In cooperation with the Israel museum (Jerusalem). A 3D collaborative environment on the Dead Sea Scrolls and related religious, sociological and historical issues.

Stori@Lombardia - 2004-2005
With the support of the Lombardy region. The Italian “counterpart” of Learning@Europe (see above), on the medieval history of the Lombardy region.

TELL - Towards Effective network supported coLlaborative Learning activities - 2004-2005
European Commission: e-learning programme. TELL is a EU-funded project involving a network of European experts to create an evaluation framework for Network-Supported Collaborative Learning (NSCL) activities. It involved 7 European partners.

Bramantino - 2005
A multimedia multichannel application for an exhibition about the Renaissance painter Bramantino.
In cooperation with Pinacoteca Ambrosiana (Milano) and Kalliste Arte onlus.

OPENDRAMA (The digital heritage of opera in the open network environment) - 2003-2004
Definition, development and integration of a novel platform to deliver rich cross-media digital objects of opera. European Commission, 5th Framework Program, IST Programme.

E-LEN - A Network of E-Learning Centres - 2003-2004
The main objective E-LEN is the definition of e-learning design patterns, roadmaps and usability evaluation of e-learning platforms, through a network of E-Learning Centers and leading organisations in the learning technologies. European Commission, Socrates Programme – Action Minerva.

ADAPT (Adaptativity and Adaptability in Online Digital Libraries) - 2003-2004
Creation of a network for scientific cooperation and exchanges among academic and research institutions, in the field of adaptive hypermedia systems. The special focus is on e-learning systems.

HELP: Listen to a website - 2002-2003
On accessibility for blind users, in relation to an exhibition about Munch’s prints by the Staatliche Museen of Berlin. EU Culture Programme.

The main objective of UWA is to define a set of methodologies, notations, and tools to support the design of complex multi-device ubiquitous web applications.
